the distance from the top or surface to the bottom of something.
Describing Words:
- Bottomless
- Deep
- Shallow
- Profound
- Tower
This image has deep depth as the image has been took from a low angle shot, making the building seem very big, and give off the idea that it towers over a person. We don't even see the bottom of the building so we can also assume that the depth is even longer. I like this image however i think it would be used for advertising.
The depth in this image looks quite shallow in some respects as we can see the bottom, however we are also led to believe it is not because you can evidently see that the peoples feet don't touch the floor, therefore it must be deep. However, we know that this depth isn't bottomless because we can actually see it. I like this image.
This images depth looks a bit endless as if it just continues, we are lead to think the distance is very far because you can see more land winding round as the back of the image, so we automatically think that it is a walking path like right at the front of the image. I don't like this image as I think scenes like this are a bit overdone.
This image also looks endless and as if the depth of the image is a lot. You never see the end of the sea because the image ends, so you are lead to think that there is no end to the sea and therefore that means the depth is large. i like this image because of the context.
My own definition:
Depth is whether something is represented as short or long.
